Systemic Arterial Supply to the Lung (Proximal Interruption of the Pulmonary Artery)

Radiologic Findings

Chest radiograph shows mass shadow in the left lower lobe. Chest CT scans show dilated vascular structure originated from descending thoracic aorta (arrows). Enlarged vascular structures are seen in the basal segment of left lower lobe.

Brief Discussion

Proximal interruption of the pulmonary artery

 Focal stenotic or atretic segment in PA
 Opposite the aortic arch
 Hypoplastic lung with decreased volume
 Asymptomatic or hemoptysis
