Diagnosis With Brief Discussion
- Diagnosis
- Tracheal involvement of peripheral T cell lymphoma
- Radiologic Findings
- 1. Diffuse circumferential tracheal wall thickening from aortic arch to carina level of trachea.
2. Resultant luminal narrowing of the trachea.
3. Rt axillar LN enlargement
4. Rt anterior chest wall mass.
- Brief Review
- Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL)
- Subtype of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (5~10% of NHL)
Develop from more mature forms of T cells
- Generally, presents with lymphadenopathy
- Extranodal presentation is common and bone marrow is the MC site
- Pulmonary involvement: 3~24%
Mass-like consolidations, small nodules, interstitial infiltrates, peribronchial and perivascular thickening, hilar or mediastinal LN enlargement, pleural effusion
Endobronchial lesion is rare
- More common in Asia than in the West
- Exposure to environmental and certain infectious agents like human T-cell lymphotropic virus type-1 and Epstein-Barr virus is one of the reasons for geographic variation.
- Median age at diagnosis is 59 years.
