- Appeared immediately or within 1 hr(64%)
- Clinical sign : Asx. ?resp. insufficiency

- Unilateral alveolar opacities
- Progress for 24-48 hr, persist for 4-5 days

- Hypotheses
increased pulmonary capillary permeability due to hypoxic injury
decreased surfactant production
altered pulmonary perfusion and mechanical stretching of membranes
