Lab
- AFB (+) from aspriated fluid
- Miliary tuberculosis in the lung
Discussion
- 1-3% of patients with tuberculosis
- No pulmonary tb in 50% of patients with musculoskeletal tbc
- Mainly hematogenous dissemination, sometimes contiguous spread from pleura or pulmonary lesions
- Rib shaft and costovertal joint; most commonly involved bone in the thorax
- DDx; pyogenic infection, actinomycosis - Ubiquitous zoonotic disease
