Diagnosis With Brief Discussion
- Diagnosis
- Castleman disease, Hyaline vascular type
- Radiologic Findings
- Fig 1. Chest radiography shows bulging mass opacity at right hilar area.
Fig 2-3. Chest CT images show large mass at right paravertebral area, with internal calcification. Homogenous enhancement is seen after the administration of intravenous contrast media.
- Brief Review
- Castleman disease is an uncommon polyclonal lymphoproliferative disease. Pathologically, there are two types: Hyaline vascular type, plasma cell type, and human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8)-associated Castleman disease. Hyalin vascular type comprised 90% of Castleman disease. Based on biological behavior, Castleman disease can also be classified into unicentric form and multicentric form, based on the extent of local lymph node involvement.
Most of hyaline vascular type Castleman disease may manifest as unicentric form. CT image may show asolytary enlarged lymph node or localized mass the demonstrates homogenous intense enhancement after contrast material administration.
